Hello, my name is Anita and I lead our messy play fun to South Colchester! Living on West Mersea, I enjoy an active, outdoor life as well as spending as much time as I can with my 2 young nephews. I am a Squirrel Scout Leader here on the island and I also volunteer at a local disabled children’s camp every summer.

I am a qualified teacher with 23 years of experience and know the importance of supporting children to develop their fine and gross motor skills. Little Learners does this in such a fun and engaging way and that is exactly why I chose to run my own business with them. My role is to support you and your child as they begin their writing journey. I really look forward to working together to see your child achieve.

I run regular weekly sessions in the local area as well as holiday sessions in parks and on the beach. I love hosting messy play parties – please do get in touch if you’d like to find out more about these or school/nursery based sessions!

Colchester Messy Play Classes

My sessions will teach your child to create the 4 main marks needed for writing by engaging in activities that include paint, spaghetti, gloop and more!

These award-winning sessions have all been devised by a qualified teacher and will help your child to make their mark and hone their early writing skills! As well as this, I aim to support parents and carers to build supportive friendships within the classes. My intention is that you have as much fun as the children…!

Outreach

Parties

Little Learners parties are great fun! Our party packages combine all the exciting elements of our award winning mark making and messy play classes with a personalised birthday theme for your little one. Our ‘cake smashes’ are very popular for babies parties too!

The party room will typically be set up with (themed) messy trays, sensory play, painting and drawing stations, play dough and more.

Your party can be set up at a venue of your choice (including your garden!) and it would be my pleasure to work with you to come up with a personalised party plan for your little one.

Merchandise

I have t-shirts available to buy either at sessions (or message me prior and I can bring you one to your first session). These are priced at £10.99 and are available in sized 6-12 months, 1-2 years and 3-4 years. I can also get 5-6 years but will need notice as I don’t hold these in stock.

The t-shirts are hard wearing and perfect for class (and don’t ruin your fab clothes!) – just pair them with some joggers or leggings and your Little Learner is ready to go!

I also hold stock of messy resources – snoplay, gelli baff and slime (£5 a box), sachets of slime and snoplay (£2), crazy soap (pink, white, purple, blue – £3.50 each), egg chalks (£5 for a box of 6) and messy play kits (£5 – 2 x bubbles, inflatable tray, snoplay sachet and slime sachet) – just let me know what you’d like. Payment can be made via bank transfer so it’s nice and easy!

We’ve been to a couple of terms and the Halloween party recently. My little boy cries leaving most the time. He’s always so engaged and happy and Anita has always got new surprises for all the kids. Our favourite club of the week.

We have booked Anita for our little girls first birthday and attend her sessions. Highly recommend not only are the classes well thought out she is always on hand to give a hand and keeps the kids occupied. I’ve recommended to many friends and will continue with her classes. Both my little kids love the sessions and her warm loving nature. Excited for the next lot of block sessions and if you haven’t booked then book!

We have been going to little learners for the last 6 months. My two boys are the complete opposites when it comes to messy play. Anita’s classes always cater for both. One of them will be diving in head first to cocoa powder and jelly whilst the other will be found on the edge of the sand or amazing rice shape that Anita has put together for the week. Anita also makes sure to take photos of everyone during the session so you can concentrate on your little one and helping them mark make.

Little learners is one of the best classes we have been to! My little boy, who is almost 1 absolutely loves it. We have been coming to little learners since he was 5 months old.
Anita who runs the class, is such a lovely lady and has always made us feel very welcome. Jace always has plenty of smiles for Anita and she really makes such an effort with all the children. The messy trays are different each week and are really fun! Jace loves exploring all the different textures and tasting! His favourites are definitely the trays that have edible things in! I think the class is great as you can start them from when you have a little one right up till 4/5. Although my daughter who is 8, loves joining in the sessions in the half term holidays. We’re so glad we found little learners; it really makes our week when we come along to this class :)

So much care and attention goes into each activity. The children are engaged and happy and don’t even realise that they are learning through having such a great time. Anita is a fabulous host and makes everyone feel so welcome. Highly recommend!
