Hey Duggee Messy Play Event

We’ve had such a brilliant summer at Little Learners North West Kent! While we have taken a break from our usual termly classes, that did not mean that the fun stopped! We held bumper messy play events every single week, each with a different theme and sometimes an added bonus for example, a mascot visit from a certain famous mouse (courtesy of our friends at More Than Mascots), and build-a-bunny workshops after we got hold of some very special original Peter Rabbit teddies to stuff from Teddy Mountain!

But by far our favourite has been our Hey Duggee themed messy play event. It has been the perfect way to introduce lots of children to messy play and mark-making activities, challenge them to explore new textures, provide opportunities for sharing and general socialising and most importantly encouraging them to make their marks!

Here are a few of our favourite activities – use the arrows to scroll through!

We had a ‘Duggee’ face inspired tray made lovingly by one of our class leaders using cereals and rice! This was by far the most popular. Our sand tray was constantly busy as the children LOVED the Duggee house and little wooden characters (I’d got these on sale for an absolute bargain (£8.99ish) here).

Our ‘Betty Spaghetti’ as dubbed by one of our mamas was of course made of dyed spaghetti and pasta – I will not deny this was a bit of a buffet, our little learners just didn’t seem to be able to help themselves!

Finally, our representation of the character ‘Tag’ was designed using one of our FAVOURITE messy play tray fillers – Children’s Crazy Soap Foam! This amazing stuff is non-toxic, smells amazing and comes in four different colours. You can get a hold of it on the franchise website or at any of our class pop up shops!

Aside from our messy play tray designs, we had all the staples of our normal classes – a huge painting station, a playdough area, a scribble station, and non-messy fine motor toys. There was truly something for every Little Learner wherever they are in their messy play and mark-making journey.

If you want to see what a fabulous time we had why not come and have a look at more of our photos on our socials and give us a follow on our socials:
